Okay, okay! I know! I've been M.I.A. for a while. Jake and I went to visit my mom up in Layton for a week, then when we got home our computer wasn't working... so I haven't posted for a while.
A lot has been going on but today I just simply want to post about Mother's Day! (I'll get the rest of the updates on our lives this week) Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers out there. I got this amazing e-mail from a friend the other day... it's a poem about mothers and I wanted to share.
Before I was a Mom;
I made and ate hot meal,
I had unstained clothing,
I brushed my hair every day,
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
I slept as late as I wanted and I slept all night long.
Before I was a Mom;
I cleaned my house each day,
I never tripped over toys or forgot lullabies,
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous,
I had never been puked on, pooped on, spit on,
chewed on, peed on, or pinched by tiny fingers.
Before I was a Mom;
I never thought about immunizations,
I never held a screaming child so the doctors could give shots,
I never looked into teary eyes and cried,
I never felt my heart break into pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt,
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
Before I was a Mom;
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down,
I never sat up late hours of the night watching a baby sleep,
I never got up in the middle of the night to make sure everything was okay,
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
Before I was a Mom;
I had complete control of my mind, my thoughts and my body,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside of my body,
I didn't know that having something so small could make me feel so important,
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment, or the satisfaction of being a mom.
Before I was a Mom;
I never knew that something so small could effect my life so much,
I never knew that I could love someone so much,
I never knew I would love being a Mom,
I didn't know the bond between a Mother and her child,
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a mom.
It's all so true and just beautiful.
Today was my first official Mother's Day! It was an amazing day, let me tell you. Jimmy took little man for a little bit in the morning so I could sleep just a little longer. When I got up, I was presented with breakfast; dippy eggs with toast! My FAVORITE! Then I got flowers, chocolate and some beautiful cards from my boys.
After that, Jimmy told me what my present was. We were going to Floyd Lamb park to fish!!! I was so stoked because I can't remember the last time we went fishing. I believe well over a year because I don't remember fishing at all when I was pregnant and I know we haven't gone since Jake was born. So we bought our licenses (which was also part of my gift!), packed some lunch and headed out.
We found our first spot under a big tree where the geese were hanging out. Jake was RIGHT next to them.
We ate our lunch then baited our lines with night crawlers... aka worms (Silly Wal-Mart people made sure we understood they were night crawlers... whatever!).
Here is Jimmy trying to get a good one.
And my little man's first time fishing!!!!!
Look at his catch! Pro already!
My boys fishing together.
Momma and Jake... (I look sick!)
I was getting camera happy when there weren't many bites. I got one and Jimmy got a couple but no fish for us!
There was the most adorable Momma Duck with her babies! We were feeding her gold fish crackers.
Jake was pooped by the end of the day, so we packed up and headed out.
Such a wonderful Mother's Day!
